The matriarch of our family, our mother went to law school at the age of 30 while working a full-time job as a chemist during the day and raising us at night. She has practiced patent law in the Bay Area for over thirty years, but has still made time to support us in this journey. She has spent countless hours helping us design, create and ship these products to your doorstep to ensure that they are flawless.

OUR VALUES
Honesty, Integrity, Quality.
We take pride in our ability to not only design high-quality marble products, but also forge strong relationships with our artisans in Rajasthan and Agra in India. We pay our artisans equitably (also known as pay parity) in recognition of their labor, which we have featured on our "Behind the Scenes" page.

In 1999, our father paved the way in the digital learning era when he created Mathstories, a website with hundreds of analytical math problems designed for kids, parents, and teachers. With over two million hits that led to recognition in the San Francisco Examiner, San Jose Mercury News, and The Seattle Times, Mathstories maintained its integrity as an affordable and student-centered hub. Mathstories.com regularly gave back to the community by sponsoring book drives for under-resourced schools. Today, you can access Mathstories for free at mathstories.com.
Similarly, at Sangemar, we intend to give back a portion of the proceeds to the artisans who created each of the products, as well as organizations in India who support women who have experienced gender-based violence/intimate partner violence.

Our uncle, Rajesh Kumar, works closely with our artisans in Agra and Rajasthan in India to ensure that all of our products are made of the highest quality and are safely shipped to America. As a business owner in the chemical fiber industry for the last forty years, he has exported goods to major companies in Europe and Asia. He possesses sharp business acumen, understands the importance of building strong relationships and treats our artisans with dignity and respect. He speaks with the artisans and us almost every single day because he is genuinely passionate about showcasing the beauty of Indian artisanship in America.
