This traditional candleholder (diya) made of Banswara marble with a circular brass dish is a classic way to style tealights. Due to the depth of the insert, tealights will be protected from light to moderate wind, ensuring that they remain lit throughout the night. 

Banswara marble is a high-quality, lustrous marble with subtle gray and purple veining and sourced from marble quarries in Banswara. (a city in Rajasthan). The veining can vary in intensity, from fine and delicate to bold and pronounced, adding character and depth to the stone. 

Artisans create these candleholders in the following eight steps:
1. Drill the hole in the raw piece of marble for the brass dish.
2. Hand-sketch the design onto the marble to begin the carving process.
3. Shape the marble into the design using a precision machine.
4. Polish the candleholder with a sanding machine
5.Polish the candleholder by hand
6. Set the brass dish with a custom-made adhesive
7. Polish the candleholder a final time 
8. Pack each candleholder in foam and bubble wrap to ensure it arrives in perfect condition

Size and color of marble will slightly vary as each is delicately handcrafted by our artisans in Rajasthan, India.

Absolutely beautiful diyas

I ordered four of this style of diya to give to some folks at Diwali. The pieces I got were all so beautifu and well crafted, and I couldn’t be happier with them. Nice, thick pieces of marble larger than the size of my hand and with the gold candle holder perfectly set in each. Also, the customer service was excellent, and Veena was quick to respond with care when I wanted to make sure I would get my order in time for Diwali.

I wish I had a picture to upload with this but I handed all the pieces I bought out to others (who loved them too). For sure I will be buying more marble pieces from Sangemar for my home though!

How can I care for my marble?

Due to the robust composition, marble is easy to care for. Simply wipe the surface with a gentle soap on a damp cloth. 

Where do you source the marble?

We work with artisans in both Rajasthan and Agra in India, who primarily source the marble from the Makrana and Banswara regions. These two regions are known for high-quality, lustrous marble, which can be easily carved and designed into Western/Eastern designs for your home. 

How much are the artisans paid?

We fully recognize the importance of paying the artisans we work with fairly and equitably for their labor. We pay exactly the prices they request. These prices have increased due to the tariffs and uncertainty around shipping by sea through the Strait of Hormuz. 

How can I know my marble will arrive safely?

Given that marble is a fragile material, we use the utmost preautions to ensure your marble reaches you in one piece! We use several layers of bubble wrap and styrofoam in heavy-duty boxes that can withstand long journeys. We have shipped to Canada and across the United States without issue If your product is chipped, however, we will happily replace it if we receive photos within 48 hours of receipt.

Absolutely. We love creating custom pieces for weddings, events, and special occasions. We can personalize products and we offer special pricing for bulk orders.
